Our diverse subsystems supply opportunities for students of various interests and studies.
Read below to learn more about how each subsystem contributes to our project.
Suspension & Brakes
Suspension dictates static and dynamic qualities, like how the car handles in turns and straightaways. The goal is to maximize grip and handling for the driver to shorten racing time in competition.
Students interested in designing and manufacturing the suspension system and braking system will find their fit here.
Electronics & Ergonomics
Ergonomics and electronics are essential - they allow for the driver to perform at his or her best at competition time. Ergonomics involves the fit and interaction of the driver in the car, while electronics are crucial to providing prompt, accurate feedback to the driver and team.
Students interested in wiring, sensors, and human-device interaction will find their fit here.
Chassis
Chassis involves the conceptualization and design of base framework of the vehicle. All components will be mounted onto the chassis. A sturdy chassis is vital for the creation of the FSAE vehicle.
Students interested in designing, welding, metalwork, and machining will find their fit here.
Drivetrain & Powertrain
Powertrain dictates the engine, air intake, air exhaust, cooling system, and fuel tank to maximize engine performance. Drivetrain takes power/torque produced by the engine and transmits it to the wheels so the car can move.
Students interested in working on gear ratios and designing the drivetrain components, or in developing air and fuel systems will find their fit here.
Business
Business maintains the administration side of our student-led organization. Business team maintains finances and communication with sponsors, as well as accessing the FSAE bank account.
Entrepreneurial students willing to jump in to our new organization with interest in administration and finance will find their fit here
